Intercom & IFB over IP

Tthe next generation professional intercom system is available now. This all software system replaces hardware matrix frames and push button panels and puts a full featured multi channel intercom station on any Windows PC or wireless hand held device such as PDA’s & cell phones. The Vcom Virtual Matrix software runs on a internet /intranet connected Windows PC or Server and can intelligently interface with hardware matrices, 2 way radios, telco modems /hybrids, and other devices for audio and control signaling. The Virtual Matrix is easily scalable to hundreds of channels by simply re-licensing the software.

The Virtual Matrix can interface with and interconnect any hardware matrix intercom system, 2-way radios, telco modems, and other audio circuits.

The Client Control Panel emulates a hardware panel and runs on any Windows PC or MAC w/ Bootcamp. The Windows Mobile version runs on smart phones under Windows Pocket PC with a WiFi or broadband connection. We offer a variety of high quality noise canceling wired & Blue Tooth headsets and interfacing to allow pro headsets as well.

JK Audio’s new Blue Box series solves the problem of audio interfacing with smart phones and PDA’s. Three models in the series offer XLR mic & line, 1/4” & miniplug connection for send & receive audio using Blue Tooth connectivity.

Production Intercom

Production Intercom,. AKA Beltpack.com offers a wide range of lower cost intercom and IFB equipment for installed and portable use in single and dual channel configurations that use standard 3-wire XLR cables for interconnects. They also offer a range of interfaces for injecting and extracting audio from intercom & IFB circuits from other manufacturer’s comm’s circuits.

P.I’s wireless intercom is built around Icom radios for durability, simplicity, range and sound quality.

INVISIO Headsets

Professional quality Invisio headsets offer Bone Conduction transducers in wired 2 way headsets for intercom & cell phone use. These headsets have no acoustic mic, transmitting only your voice regardless of ambient noise level.

These Invisio headsets are used by tactical military and law enforcement for critical radio communications, are available with generic fit eartips or custom ear molds, and a variety of connectors and adapters to fit most devices and intercoms.

Studio Technologies has four product lines - Broadcast IFB systems, Pro Audio Distribution Amps, StudioComm stereo & surround monitor control systems, and Acoustic Test & Measurement.

New Microphones

I am always on the look out for innovative new microphones, and when they come at a great price, all the better!

I am very pleased to have added two excellent new manufacturers to our line. For boom pole work, their pencil mics are outstandingly quiet, have wide, flat frequency responses with presence peaks varying by model, interchangeable capsules, and multiple filters and pads. Most of the models however are studio oriented, being large diaphragm condensers, ribbons, & tubes, and are gaining lots of respect with Voice Over talent, studio engineers & musicians.

ATS Communications introduces Audix Microphones to the video production market.

Audix is an American company that designs & QC’s their products in the U.S. Most of their microphone products are built here. Quality is not compromised while the value is held high.

The Micro line of RF resistant condenser microphones are high quality ultra miniature mics offered with a variety of patterns and options. With sizes as small as a AA battery, the sound quality these mics produce will surprise you, and so will the price.

Recently announced for the Micros is a 50” boom wand that can fit on any mic stand. Ultra light weight, internally wired with a short gooseneck at the head for positioning and less than 3/8” diameter, it can even be hand held.

Lithium Polymer Rechargeable
Universal Battery Pack

The MP3400 is a single 56WHr
multi-voltage Li-Po pack with a built in charger measuring just 7 x3.75 x7/8 and weighs 1 lb.

The MP3450 is a single 50WHr multi-voltage battery with two outputs - Main & 5V USB, plus an expansion port. Clip-on the optional MP3450-10 and you’ll have 100WHrs of power available in a
 3.32"x 6.85"x .89" size pack.

Both packs are capable of 8 output voltages- 5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 14, 16, & 19V. A coiled output cable with 8 different size DC plugs is included as is a power supply for charging, a pouch to carry the adapters, and a nicely done leatherette case with belt loop and window for the 9 LED capacity meter. An output cable for Remote Audio’s BDS box will be available.

Theses packs can be used to power just about anything from audio gear to still & video cameras, laptop computers, PDA’s, Cell & Smart Phones, and more. It is even a good match for the Zylight or other DC powered light.

I did some run time tests using with the MP-3400 running a Sound Device 442 mixer powering a 48V Sanken CS-1 and Ultrasone HFI-700 headphones. With the output set at 12V, it powered the system for 28 hours. When set at 6V (which is within the 442’s operating range), it ran in excess of 34 hours.

We have two external battery packs for the popular M-Audio Microtrack 24/96. The Energizer contains two AA’s, the MP1500 contains four. High capacity NiMH or Lithium are recommended. Both packs have circuits that will switch on when the internal battery gets low enough to need charging.

The MP1500 can charge it’s own batteries by plugging it into the USB port on a laptop computer, and comes with 10 plug adapters for most cell phones, PDA’s and other small electronics.
